Kuzure-Tate-Shiho-Gatame is a broken vertical four-corner hold used on the ground. The attacker sits on top of the torso of the defender. One arm wraps around the neck while the other stays free. This position allows the player to maintain balance against a rolling escape. The knees squeeze the ribs of the opponent to limit any movement. One game example involves pinning the opponent after a successful throwing move. This hold is very difficult to break once the attacker settles weight. Proper execution involves keeping the head low to avoid being pushed away. Strategy involves using the feet to hook the legs of the defender. This technique provides a dominant way to end a match on top.
