Morote-Seoi-Nage Meaning in Judo

Morote-Seoi-Nage is a two-handed shoulder throw performed by rotating the body. The attacker grips the sleeve and the lapel of the opponent simultaneously. Both feet turn so the back faces the front of the defender. The player pulls the opponent over the shoulder while dropping the hips. One game example involves a player tossing the defender for a full point. This move requires the attacker to keep the elbows tucked in tightly. Proper execution depends on a deep bend in the knees for power. This throwing technique remains one of the most popular moves in competition. Strategy involves pulling the opponent forward to break their balance before turning. It provides a very fast way to end a match with force.
