Hasami Uchi Meaning in Karate

Hasami Uchi is a striking technique in karate that translates to the scissor strike or double strike. The practitioner uses both hands simultaneously to hit an opponent from two opposite sides at the same time. This move often targets the ears or the ribs to overwhelm the senses and the balance of the attacker. It requires perfect coordination between both arms to ensure the strikes land at the exact same moment for impact. The hands move in a circular or curved path toward each other like the blades of a scissor. An athlete performs a double ear strike during a self defense demonstration at the local martial arts school. Maintaining a wide and stable stance provides the necessary base to execute this complex two handed movement. This strike is very difficult to block because the opponent must defend against two different directions at once.
