Morote Zuki is a double fist punch where both arms strike out in a parallel horizontal path. The practitioner delivers two identical punches to the same level of the opponent’s body at the same time. This technique creates a very wide and powerful impact area that is hard for an opponent to evade. It is often used to knock an attacker backward or to stop a charging opponent in their tracks. The fists stay level with each other and the elbows stay tucked in for a strong structure. An athlete strikes the chest of a training dummy with a parallel double punch in the gym. Synchronizing the movement of the feet with the extension of the arms maximizes the total impact. This punch requires a very solid and rooted stance to handle the backward force of the strike.
