This pattern uses a wide horse stance while moving along a single horizontal line for its duration. It introduces complex arm movements such as simultaneous blocks and strikes to handle multiple attackers from the side. The sequence requires the practitioner to maintain a low center of gravity to build immense leg strength. Students learn to use their hips to generate power without the need for forward stepping motions. An athlete performs a double inside block while shifting sideways during a formal demonstration in class. Keeping the back straight during the lateral movement ensures the body remains balanced and structurally sound. This form develops the physical coordination needed to defend the body in very narrow or restricted spaces.
