A Barani is a front flip with a half twist. The gymnast jumps forward into the air. Arms swing upward to create lift. Legs push strongly off the floor surface. The body begins a forward rotation. A half twist occurs during the flip. The gymnast turns to face opposite direction. Knees may tuck during rotation. Eyes locate the floor before landing. Legs extend just before touchdown.
