A balance beam acro series is two or more flips together. The gymnast performs these skills one after another without any pause. These moves must involve a flight phase to count as acro. The athlete connects the skills to build a high difficulty score. This series is often the most exciting part of the routine. The gymnast must maintain a straight line on the narrow beam. A gymnast executes a back handspring followed by a back tuck. The athlete must use the momentum from the first move. Keeping the feet in line with the beam is very important. The gymnast must stay calm to handle the fast backward movement. Squeezing the leg muscles helps the athlete stay on the beam. This series proves the gymnast has power and very high bravery. Judges look for a fast connection between the two different skills. A small wobble between the moves will result in a deduction. The athlete must land the final flip with a still body.
