Floor Exercise Double Back Tuck Meaning in Gymnastics

A double back tuck is a move with two backward flips. The gymnast jumps high and rotates backward for two full circles. While in the air, the athlete pulls the knees toward chest. The gymnast must hold the tuck very tightly to spin fast. This move happens in a single jump before the athlete lands. It requires the gymnast to have great explosive power and speed. A gymnast executes a double back tuck as a floor pass. The athlete must run very fast to gain enough backward momentum. Keeping the head in a neutral position helps with the rotation. The gymnast must open the tuck at the right landing time. Judges check for a high peak and a very solid landing. This skill is a major requirement for many advanced gymnastics levels. Strong leg muscles help the athlete reach the necessary vertical height. The gymnast must land with the chest up to stay balanced. Constant practice allows the athlete to feel the rotation in the air.
