Front Service Line Meaning in Badminton

The front service line marks the forward limit of the service box. All serves must land beyond this line to be considered legal play. The server also stands near this line to hit short serves. It is located close to the net on both sides of court. If a serve falls short of this line the opponent wins. A player hits a short serve that barely clears the net tape. The shuttlecock lands just past the white front service line in court. The umpire calls the serve good and the rally continues normally now. Players practice hitting serves that land as close to this line as possible. This makes it difficult for the receiver to attack the serve early.
