A good server aims for open spaces or weak passers. Therefore, the other team struggles to control the ball. An ace rewards both skill and smart decision-making. It also builds momentum for the serving team. Crowd energy often rises after an ace. However, not every hard serve becomes an ace.
Accuracy matters more than power. Coaches often encourage servers to stay aggressive.
For example, a player serves sharply to the back corner. The ball lands untouched on the court. The referee signals a point. That serve counts as an ace and ends the rally instantly.
