Advanced batting describes the technique where a player steps forward and out of their crease to meet the ball before it has a chance to bounce or turn. By ‘using their feet’ to move toward the bowler, the batter can turn a difficult delivery into an easy scoring opportunity or hit the ball over the fielders’ heads.
Example: The batter used advanced batting to reach the pitch of the spinning ball and smash it for a straight six.
Pro-Tip: This is a high-risk move because once the batter leaves the crease, they are vulnerable to being stumped by the keeper if they miss the ball. Therefore, it requires perfect footwork and total confidence in timing the bowler’s release.
