After-collision masse is a trick shot where the cue ball curves after hitting a target. Usually, a masse shot involves the ball curving before it strikes anything on the table. In this version, the cue ball hits an object ball and then arcs sideways. This is achieved by striking down on the cue ball with extreme vertical force. The downward energy creates a delayed reaction that takes effect after the initial collision. It is a very advanced move used to avoid obstacles or reach a hidden pocket. For example, a player hits the three ball and watches the cue ball curve around the five. This incredible curve allows the white ball to stop in a perfect position for the win. It requires a specialized cue and a great deal of touch to execute safely. Beginners should avoid this shot to prevent damaging the table’s felt or slate.
