An angle volley is a soft, tactical shot hit from the net toward the sidelines. Instead of hitting the ball deep, the player turns the racket face to send the ball off at a sharp angle. This forces the opponent to run a long distance across the court to reach it. It is more about touch and placement than raw power or speed. For example, a player at the net catches a fast ball and gently volleys it at an angle toward the side fence.
