The ATP Finals is the season-ending championship of the men’s professional tennis tour. It features the top 8 singles players and top 8 doubles teams of the year, based on ranking points earned during the season.
Unlike regular tournaments, the ATP Finals uses a round-robin format. Players are split into two groups of four. Each player competes against the other three in their group. The top two from each group advance to the semifinals, then the winners play the final.
Because only the best players qualify, it is considered one of the most prestigious events in men’s tennis, just below the four Grand Slam tournaments. It also offers one of the highest prize money payouts in the sport.
