The baseline represents the line at the very back of the pickleball court area. This boundary marks the furthest limit where a ball remains in legal play during matches. Players stand behind this line to serve or wait for deep returns from the opponent. One athlete hits a long shot that lands exactly on the back white stripe. Staying near this line provides more time to react to fast shots from the other side. Proper footwork near this boundary ensures the player does not step out of the play area. This line dictates where every legal point must begin for both serving teams.
