Big ball is a term used when the path to a pocket is made easier by the angles. This happens when a ball is positioned so that a wide range of hits will still result in a score. In carom games, it refers to a target that is close to a rail, effectively making it ‘larger’ to hit. When you have a big ball, your margin for error is much higher than a standard shot.
