The carrom ball is a unique delivery released using the thumb and middle finger. This ball involves a flicking motion similar to playing the game of carrom. The ball can turn in either direction depending on the finger flicking angle. This delivery often surprises a batsman because the spin is very difficult to read. It requires immense finger strength and many years of specific training to master. The ball usually travels faster than a standard off break or leg break. A spinner uses the carrom ball to trap a batsman in front. This delivery works best when the bowler hides the grip during the approach. Maintaining a consistent release point prevents the batsman from identifying the flick early.
