Clean describes surfing conditions with smooth waves and organized sets. This usually occurs with offshore winds or very calm weather. The waves have a clear and defined face for the surfer. There is very little whitewater or turbulence on the open wave wall. Clean waves allow for the most technical and stylish surfing maneuvers. Surfers use this term to describe a high quality day at sea. A surfer watches a series of clean waves peel down the point. The ocean looks blue and inviting with very little surface spray. One athlete performs a perfect cutback on a clean wave face. Finding clean surf is the goal of every person who owns boards.
