Clutch describes a player’s ability to perform at their best when the pressure is at its highest. A clutch player consistently makes difficult shots when the game or match is on the line. It is the exact opposite of choking; instead of folding, the player becomes more focused and precise. Being ‘clutch’ is a highly respected trait in the competitive billiards community. For example, a player needs to run three difficult bank shots to win the tournament and does so perfectly. Their ability to stay cool and execute under pressure earns them the win. Developing a ‘clutch’ mindset requires confidence and a lot of experience in real matches. It is what separates winners from everyone else.
