A combination is a shot where one object ball hits another into a pocket. The cue ball strikes the first object ball. That ball then pushes a second ball toward the pocket. Players use combinations to pocket difficult balls. Accuracy on both balls matters. The first contact must stay clean and controlled. For example, a player hits the 3-ball into the 8-ball. The 8-ball rolls into the corner pocket. Combinations require planning and careful aim.
