Competition Warm-Up Meaning in Weightlifting

Competition warm-up involves a series of progressively heavier lifts performed backstage to prepare for the main platform. This process follows a strict timeline so the athlete reaches their peak readiness at the right moment. The coach manages the timing based on the attempts of other lifters in the same session. Starting too early or too late can cause the athlete to feel tired or cold. A lifter performs five sets of single repetitions while the announcer calls the previous lifting group. This routine ensures that the nervous system is primed for the maximum effort of the snatch. Effective preparation backstage often determines the success of the first official attempt on the stage.
