A control shot is a deliberate hit that emphasizes placement and safety over speed or aggression. The primary goal is to keep the ball in play while moving the opponent around. This type of shot often involves a shorter swing and a very stable paddle face position. A player hits a soft and angled ball that lands just inside the side boundary line. Taking speed off the ball helps a player regain their defensive position during a fast rally. These smart plays force the other team to move and hit from an uncomfortable body position.
