Conventional Grip,The conventional grip is a way of holding the ball where the fingers are inserted up to the second knuckle. This is the standard grip found on house balls used by casual bowlers at most public alleys. It provides a very secure feeling and makes it much easier to control the ball for straight shots. However this grip makes it more difficult to apply the heavy spin needed for a powerful hook. For example the beginner used a conventional grip to ensure she didn’t drop the ball during her swing.
