The cue ball is the white ball a player strikes with the cue stick. Players never score directly with it. Instead, they use it to hit other balls. It controls how the game flows. Good control of the cue ball decides position for the next shot. Players think ahead before striking it. For example, a player hits the cue ball into the 8-ball to sink it. After contact, the cue ball rolls into place for the next shot. Strong cue ball control separates beginners from skilled players.
