Dirty Side Meaning in Formula 1

The dirty side is the less grippy part of the track. It usually sits away from the racing line. Dust and debris collect there. This reduces tire grip during starts. For example, a driver starting on the dirty side may struggle for traction. Wheel spin becomes more likely off the line. Track cleaning during the weekend can reduce this effect. Grid position influences which side a driver occupies. Grip differences can affect the race start.
