A double-rail is a bank shot where the object ball hits two cushions before going into the pocket. This is used when a single-rail bank is blocked or the angle is too sharp. It requires a much higher level of precision and speed control than a standard bank. You must visualize the ball’s path across the table twice to find the correct aiming point. For example, a player banks the nine ball off the long rail, then the short rail, and into the corner. This ‘two-cushion’ maneuver is a beautiful display of geometry and confidence on the felt. Mastering double-rail shots makes you a much more dangerous and versatile opponent.
