The execution score is the numerical grade a judge gives for a performance. This mark evaluates the technical quality of the dive from start to finish. Judges consider the height of the jump and the control during the rotation. This score does not include the difficulty level of the specific maneuver performed. One example of an execution score is a judge awarding an eight for form. The highest and lowest scores from the panel are usually discarded for fairness. The remaining marks are added and then multiplied by the degree of difficulty. A high execution score proves that the diver mastered the technical requirements. Divers practice daily to achieve a smooth and effortless appearance in the air. This grade reflects the athlete’s ability to perform the dive with perfect technique.
