Extras Meaning in Cricket

Extras are runs awarded to the batting team that do not come from the batter hitting the ball with their bat. These include penalties for illegal deliveries like wide balls or no balls, as well as runs from byes and leg byes.

Example: The fielding team lost the close match because they gave away twenty unnecessary extras during the final overs.

Pro-Tip: Reducing extras is the easiest way for a bowling team to keep the opponent’s total score low.
