Fireman’s Carry Meaning in Wrestling

A fireman’s carry is a takedown that lifts the opponent across your shoulders. You drop your level and control an arm and leg. Then you pull them forward onto your back. Your shoulders support their weight briefly. Next, you rotate and bring them to the mat. Balance and coordination are key. This move uses leverage more than strength. Proper timing prevents counters. For example, a wrestler shoots in and loads the opponent onto his shoulders. He rolls through and gains control for points. The fireman’s carry can be explosive. Clean execution makes it hard to defend.
