Force follow is an advanced shot using heavy top spin and significant power. You strike the cue ball high above its center with a very fast stroke. This causes the cue ball to move forward aggressively after hitting the object ball. It is used to drive the cue ball through a target to reach a far rail. This technique is perfect for moving across the entire length of the table. It requires a lot of confidence and a very straight follow-through. The friction of the cloth eventually takes over and propels the ball forward. For example, a player hits a ball into the side pocket with force follow. The cue ball smashes through the contact point and travels all the way to the far rail. This allows them to get into position for a ball at the other end. It is a high-energy shot that demonstrates great physical control and power.
