Forced Par Terre Meaning in Wrestling

Forced par terre is when a wrestler is placed on the mat in the bottom position because of a passivity call. The top wrestler gets a chance to attack from above. This situation creates a scoring opportunity. The bottom wrestler must defend turns and exposure. It rewards active wrestling. Example: After being called passive, a wrestler is placed down on the mat. His opponent starts on top and attempts a turn for points.
