Glassy refers to a water surface that is perfectly smooth and calm. This happens when there is no wind or very light offshore. The ocean looks like a mirror and reflects the sky above. Glassy conditions provide the best possible surface for a fast surfboard. The board glides without any friction or bumps from the moving water. Surfers highly prize these moments for the pure feeling of the ride. A surfer enjoys a silent and glassy morning at a point. The wave face remains still until the board cuts through it. One athlete slides across a transparent and glassy wall of water. These conditions often occur during the very early hours of the day.
