The goal line is the boundary line at each end of the netball court. This line marks the limit of the field of play behind the goal post. It measures 15.25 meters wide and connects the two side lines of the court. The goal post sits exactly in the center of this line for scoring purposes. A player must not step over this line while holding the ball during play. If the ball touches or crosses this line, the umpire awards a throw-in. Defenders often use the goal line to trap attackers and limit their available space. One real-world example shows a defender standing on the goal line to block a baseline pass.
