Half-Time Meaning in Handball

A half court press is a defensive tactic used in the attacking half. Defenders pressure the offensive team as soon as they cross the center line. This strategy aims to disrupt the buildup of play and force early turnovers. It requires less stamina than a full press but still creates significant pressure. Players focus on trapping the ball carrier near the sidelines or center area. A defender steals a pass near the center line to start a break. This action prevents the offense from reaching their preferred shooting positions near the goal. Teams use the half court press to change the tempo of the game. It forces the attacking team to make faster decisions under constant and direct pressure. Proper coordination ensures the defense remains solid while applying this aggressive forward pressure.
