The high hang snatch is a weightlifting exercise that starts with the barbell at the upper thighs. This position requires the athlete to use their legs and hips for rapid vertical power. Lifters use this drill to improve the speed of their transition under the heavy bar. An athlete performs a high hang snatch to focus on the final explosive pull. Keeping the torso vertical during the dip prevents the bar from drifting too far forward. This variation simplifies the movement by removing the initial pull from the floor surface.
