High Throw Meaning in Dodgeball

A high throw is a ball launched toward the upper body or head area. This tactic forces the defender to reach up or duck to avoid contact. A player aims for the shoulders to make catching the ball much harder. These throws are often used as distractions for lower balls coming from teammates. If a high throw is too high it might fly out of bounds. Controlling the height of the ball is a vital skill for any thrower. High throws can be dangerous if the speed is not managed with care. Aiming just below the neck is a common strategy for experienced dodgeball players.
