Indy Grab Meaning in Surfing

An indy grab is a trick where the surfer grabs the rail. The back hand reaches for the rail near the toes in flight. This is one of the most common grabs in surfing and skating. It helps the rider pull the board into the body during air. The surfer uses the grab to stabilize the board against the wind. This move allows for a more controlled and longer flight time. A surfer launches a high air and performs a solid indy grab. Landing with the feet centered is vital after releasing the board grip. One rider holds an indy grab while flying across a wave section. This classic move remains a fundamental part of the aerial surfing vocabulary.
