Kata-Sankaku is a pinning technique that creates a triangle shape with the arms. The attacker wraps one arm around the neck of the defender. The other arm goes under the armpit to lock the hands together. This position traps the shoulder and head of the opponent firmly. The attacker stays on the side to maintain a heavy weight. One game example involves securing the opponent after a failed throw. This hold prevents the defender from rolling onto the stomach or back. Success requires the player to keep the chest pressed against the shoulder. This pressure limits the movement of the opponent on the mat. Strategy involves using the legs to stabilize the body during the pin. This technique offers a very secure way to win by time.
