Kick Shot Meaning in Billiards

A kick shot happens when the cue ball hits a cushion before striking the target ball. Players use this when another ball blocks a direct path. The cushion changes the cue ball’s direction. Angles matter greatly in this shot. Players must predict how the ball rebounds. For example, a player cannot see the object ball directly. They send the cue ball off the side rail first. It then contacts the correct ball legally. Kick shots help players escape tough situations.
