Leaping is the act of jumping high into the air to avoid balls. This vertical movement helps a player dodge throws aimed at the legs or feet. A defender leaps over two balls that are rolling toward their lower body. This action requires significant explosive power and a very steady sense of balance. Players must ensure they land safely within the court boundaries after the jump. Leaping can also be used to reach for a high ball to catch. Staying airborne for a split second can make a player a difficult target. This physical skill is a fundamental part of advanced defensive dodgeball play.
