Line and Length Meaning in Cricket

Line and length are terms used to describe a bowler’s overall accuracy and consistency. ‘Line’ refers to the horizontal direction of the ball (straight or wide), while ‘length’ refers to where it bounces on the pitch (short or full).

Example: The veteran bowler relied on perfect line and length to stifle the scoring rate and force a frustrated batter into a mistake.

Pro-Tip: You don’t need to be the fastest player on the team if you have great line and length. Relentlessly hitting the same ‘good’ spot just outside the off stump is the most effective way to tire out a batter and eventually find their edge.
