Midcourt Link Meaning in Netball

The midcourt link refers to the connection between the defensive and attacking ends of the court. This role is usually performed by the center, wing attack, and wing defence players. These athletes move the ball through the middle third to set up scoring chances. Without a strong link, the ball often gets trapped in the defensive half of play. A center acts as the primary midcourt link by receiving a pass from a defender. They must have great vision to find teammates who are leading into open spaces. Effective linking requires constant movement and high levels of communication between all midcourt athletes. One real-world example shows a wing defence passing to a center to start an attack.
