Morote-Gari is a two-handed leg tackle throw used to take down. The attacker dives forward and grabs both legs of the defender. A strong shoulder drive into the waist forces the opponent backward. This move resembles a double leg takedown seen in freestyle wrestling. One game example involves a player charging to trip the opponent flat. This technique requires explosive speed and very low body positioning for success. Modern competition rules often restrict this move during standing grip exchanges. Proper execution involves keeping the head to the side for safety reasons. Strategy involves catching the defender when they stand with straight legs. This throw is a direct way to move the fight down.
