Mune-Gatame is a chest-to-chest pinning technique used during ground fighting sessions. The attacker lies across the torso of the defender from the side. Both arms wrap around the head and the shoulder of the opponent. This position uses the weight of the chest to restrict movement. One game example involves holding the opponent flat for a full score. The player must keep the knees wide to provide a stable base. This pin prevents the defender from turning onto their stomach or side. Proper execution requires the attacker to eliminate any space between the bodies. Strategy involves shifting weight in response to the bridge of the opponent. This hold provides a very secure way to control the ground match.
