A net rusher is a highly aggressive player who tries to move toward the net as quickly as possible during a point. Their goal is to put immediate pressure on the opponent and finish the rally with a volley or a smash. This style takes away the opponent’s time to think and forces them to hit difficult passing shots. Net rushers often follow their serve or a deep approach shot straight to the front of the court. While it is a high-risk strategy, it can be very effective against players who prefer a slow, rhythmic baseline game. For example, a net rusher might sprint forward after every second serve to surprise their rival and end the point in seconds. This classic style is exciting for fans because it creates fast-paced, high-drama points. It requires excellent reflexes and a very confident attacking mindset.
