Neutral position happens when both wrestlers stand facing each other. Neither has control at that moment. Most matches begin in this position. Wrestlers fight for grips and angles. Takedowns usually start from here. Movement stays quick and balanced. Hand fighting becomes very important. Each wrestler searches for an opening. Defense also plays a key role. For example, two wrestlers circle and reach for control. One suddenly shoots for a takedown from neutral. The referee awards points after control is gained. Neutral position highlights speed and timing. Good footwork creates strong opportunities.
