Non Striker Meaning in Cricket

The non-striker is the batter who stands at the bowler’s end of the pitch while their partner faces the delivery. Their main job is to watch the ball carefully and be ready to sprint to the other end for a run the moment a hit is made.

Example: The non-striker was almost run out because he was looking at the crowd instead of watching his partner’s call for a single.

Pro-Tip: Communication is key for the non-striker to avoid a collision or a mix-up in the middle of the pitch. They should also stay behind the crease line until the bowler releases the ball to avoid being ‘Mankaded’ or run out by an observant bowler.
