An outside trip is a takedown where you hook your leg around the outside of your opponent’s leg. You push or pull their upper body while blocking their leg. This causes them to lose balance and fall. Good timing makes it effective. It is often used from a tie-up position. Example: A wrestler circles, hooks the outside leg, and drives forward. His opponent falls to the mat for two points.
