Overhead Pass Meaning in Handball

An overhead pass is a ball thrown with two hands from above head. This technique allows a player to throw the ball over a tall defender. It is very useful for passing to a pivot or a wing. The player holds the ball high and uses their wrists to flick it. This pass is slower than a one-handed throw but offers great control. A center back uses an overhead pass to find the open line player. This move bypasses the defensive wall and creates a clear scoring chance immediately. Players must be careful not to hold the ball for too long here. This pass works best when the receiver is close to the six meter. Training focuses on grip strength to ensure the ball does not slip away.
