Parrying Meaning in Mixed Martial Arts

Parrying is a defensive technique used to deflect an incoming strike with hands. The fighter uses a small motion to push the opponent’s punch away safely. This redirection causes the strike to miss the target without using much energy. Parrying is more efficient than a full block because it leaves hands ready. It also creates a brief opening for a fast and effective counter strike. Most fighters parry the jab with their rear hand to stay protected behind.
